Black Antietam Online Book Event
July 27 @ 8:30 pm - 9:30 pmFree
In a live online conversation, I’ll be talking about my new book Black Antietam: African Americans and the Civil War in Sharpsburg, with my colleague and friend Dr. Terry Scott, former Hood professor and now director of the Institute for Common Power, and AJ Musewe of Common Power. We’ll also take audience questions. Join us for a lively and informal discussion about the often neglected topic of black participation in the Civil War and what it means for us today.

The Institute for Common Power sponsors lectures, workshops, conversations, learning tours, and other activities that foster, support, and amplify a democracy that is just and inclusive. The Institute provides education and engagement via a framework of Movement Learning: In which we are inspired by, learn from, and build upon the struggles for racial and voting justice in America. We delve deeply into the strategies enacted by movements for Emancipation, Citizenship, Suffrage, and Civil Rights to inform how we take action to foster a just and inclusive democracy today.
